VHDL is a Hardware Description Language (HDL) was developed in the early 1980s under a project funded by the U.S. Department of Defence. The language is used to model, design, simulate, and synthesize integrated circuits. The language is defined by the IEEE standard 1076 and its syntax is derived from the ADA software programming language.

The founder of InnovationOwl has many years of experience designing integrated circuits in this language.
